FEEDBACK FROM DARWIN COLLEGE.
The feedback I got from Darwin College for my video was mostly positive, which surprised me quite a bit because due to teacher’s comments, I thought that maybe there was less of a posibility for it to be shown. However, Darwin College picked my piece, which I am really pleased about. The comment that they attached with my ‘YES’ was: It is a visually arresting piece.

If I had the weekend...
If I was able to complete my video over the weekend I would; -SHOOT MORE FOOTAGE- a female model would’ve been great, but then again I would’ve had to make my footage shorter to fit the timing correctly. -EDITING- I would’ve taken the oppurtunity to re-do my editing, like Nick and Steve would’ve preferred, but also kept my own to see which works better. -LOADING- The...

11/12 (DEADLINE!)
In today’s last sessions on this project, I have been continuing to edit my sequence. Of course Nick and Steve had different ideas about it(Fades), although Steve sat down with me and went through what exactly he wanted to do, fade the two faces into eachother, however this effect didn’t work as well as he expected so I have just left it how it is. I’ve been able to change the...

Rough Cut Feedback.
So far all the feedback for my rough cut has been positive. I asked a few of the other students in my class, family, friends and also the two models I used in my video. They all said that the footage works well and the effects are great. My mother suggested that I add Beethoven’s 1812 Overture, this however, was my first initial idea once I had thought up my video plan, I thought though,...

here’s my first cut of the final video. Of course I still need to make the colours more bright and make it just generally as perfect as I possibly can.

10/12
In today’s first lesson, I have continued editing my footage. Nick yesterday mentioned that I should make it snappy and just have sharp cuts from one model to the other, Christina and Elliott agreed with this so I continued editing this way, however when I showed my footage(Rough Cut) back to Steve, he said to edit it in a completely different way- as a continuous loop. For this, he said...

Once I had tried my hand at a bit of editing, I decided to write on my blog everything I had done yesterday, so Elliott took over and had a go at editing my project himself, just to see what it came out like.

09/12
In today’s session, I managed to get the footage and photographs together and upload them on to here and the footage on to Final Cut Express where I captured it. Unfortunately, the models got hold of the pictures and have uploaded them, unedited, on to facebook, which is really disappointing because this is a public site and everyone can see it, I didn’t want this to happen because...

In today’s sessions, I started off the day by uploading my practice footage on to the mac at Coleridge, however, it didn’t work yet again! Pete and I had to go back to the Mac I originally worked on and got the footage off of that, then transferred it back to the other Mac I am now working on. I then had to re-edit the slow motion on the video and once when I had completed this, saved...

Artistic Equipment.
Over the weekend I searched through Cambridge and on the internet to find Powder Paint. The search seemed difficult, because I thought Heffers, Cambridge’s only lasting art shop, has gone, however it has just changed it’s name to Tindall’s. I bought five different coloured powder paint jars costing £12.45 all together. Here is an image of the paints. Because I did this task...

At Coleridge today, we started off by analysing and annotating different aspects in our sketchbooks. For this, I chose to my pages with not much writing, in case it’s confusing to the reader. I also decided to use some mixed media which was provided on the tables(coloured tape etc) in my sketchbook just to add another little finishing touch. In the second part, it was another ‘get...

America's Next Top Model
Whilst finding more images of powder paint, I realised that one of the girls in my slideshow before based hers on a photoshoot used in  America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12. The episode which this shoot took place was ‘Here’s your Test’.’ Their photoshoot consisted of taking beauty shots using coloured powder paint on their faces. They were each set a different...

In today’s first session, it has really been just a ‘get on and do whatever needs to be done’ lesson. Myself, I have been sticking and cutting things to stick in my sketchbook, also creating new pages for makeup/slow motion and colour. For this, I used the pink sugar paper again and ripped it up for an over lay effect. I cut out images from fashion magazines of different...

Sketchbook.
Almost completely filled up my sketchbook! Hopefully I’ll be able to get a new one soon. Due to not being able to take a few ‘test shots’ this evening, I have been going through the good old french fashion magazines I told you about earlier on in my blog. The images I found to relate to my project are of makeup, being on a model and just by itself(mostly powder form to represent...

In today’s afternoon lesson, we started off by going over what we need to put for our second checkpoint. The second seems not to be as long as the first, so shouldn’t be too hard to complete. In my spare time today, I also created a new page in my sketchbook for the animation task. I decided to keep it simple with just the tracing paper with the example images in the middle, with a...

Timeline on the History of Digital Art.
Here is my timeline(extended to two A3 pages). For this, I created the layout and set up using Adobe Photoshop and gathered the information by Wikipedia pages, http://design.osu.edu/carlson/history/timeline.html and the book I referenced earlier.

30/11(My Eighteenth!)
in today’s only lesson, our lesson consisted of catching up on work you may have missed or delayed. Most of the class had their flipbook animations to complete, however today was an unfortunate day where I had forgotten to bring it. Because of this, I decided to do a bit of research but alas, didn’t find any relative to my target but shall try again later. I flicked through...

27/11
In the first half of today we had to review each others sketchbooks, by swapping our book with someone we have never worked with before. I chose to exchange with Yasmin, her book was fulfilled with lots of information and drawings she had done herself, I found this really good and that she analyzed all her work too. When I got my feedback, I was surprised at what she had written, I thought most...

CARDBOARD ANIMATION. In todays sessions, we have started to create our character and drawing for a short animation using the ‘Arc’ technique. In a group of three, I’m working with Sven and Christina, at first, we were not too sure what to animate, Christina and I wanted to use a simple character design, however Sven just wanted a simple box for example. In the process of doing...

IDEA; TWO.
My second idea for this task is also revolving the first, and what inspired that. However, in a discussion with Alison and Sophie, we were coming up with different ideas for this task. One I was quite interested in was to keep my idea how it is, but perhaps have the models get an allergic skin reaction from the paint, kind of like one the videos we saw in yesterday’s lesson, ‘The Big...

25/11
In today’s lesson, we noted down the guidelines for our checkpoint in our sketchbooks. The main points for this are as follows: What have you done in the first week of this project?   What are you pleased with and why? What could have been done differently?   What do you plan to do next? We will have to write out the answers, and other information in our sketchbooks as homework. In...

24/11.
In our first session today, we watched a variety of different abstract, short films created, some for experimental purposes or just a famous director’s past student work. In my view, I found most of these videos creepy and haunting, even though other people’s perspectives were completely different to some of them. For example- I found ‘The Berlin Horse’(Malcolm Le...

Idea; ONE.
My first initial idea for this project, involves an image I discovered in the Paris ‘Vogue’ magazine. The image is a piece of art in itself, it’s of a woman with a nude face wearing safety goggles, which has the makeup vibrantly painted on in an over the top way, I will scan this image at a later date. The idea for my piece is to include this, by making a photographic video of...

Introduction to Animation.
In yesterday’s lesson we were learning the basic techniques of animation. To start us off, Steve showed us a few short videos, which are linked below. The two animations shown above include one using a mural, where the artist is painting an animation on to the walls, the second is a claymation. After this, we were given the task to create our own flipbook, using post-it notes,...

Keith Haring.
Keith Haring was a very popular urban culture artist who’s work is seen almost everywhere. Haring, (1958-1990) like the artists in the documentary ‘Beautiful Losers’, was one of the first involved in the New York artistic street culture movement in the eighties. At the age of nineteen, he opened out about being hom osexual, which later influenced most of his life and artwork....

Beautiful Losers.
For our current task in Creative & Media, we watched the feature documentary film, ‘Beautiful Losers’. Here is the film poster. The film is a documentary about the following urban artists in New York, each part of an artistic movement which defines the way we look at art today. The artists involved in the filming included; Thomas Campell, Cheryl Dunn, Shepard Fairey, Harmony...
